The Centre would like to congratulate Andrew Wilshere on the successful defence of his doctoral thesis The Rights of the Other: Emmanuel Levinas’s Meta-Phenomenology as a Critique of Hillel Steiner’s An Essay on Rights. The thesis was supervised by Prof. emeritus Hillel Steiner, FBA (Politics and Philosophy) and Prof. Alex Samely (Middle Eastern Studies, Centre for Jewish Studies); he was examined by Prof. Joanna Hodge (Manchester Metropolitan University, Philosophy) and Dr Veronique Pin-Fat (Politics and Philosophy).
