For the time being, there will be no research seminar programme in Jewish or Israel studies. We are moving to a different model comprising public lectures, day conferences, and workshops:

13 Dec 23. Nina Valbosquet will give a lunchtime seminar on 'The Vatican and the Holocaust. New findings from the Pius XII Archives.' (Closed to staff and students). 

25 Oct 23. Jean-Marc Dreyfus (University of Manchester) will give a seminar on 'The rescue of a Jewish family in France.  Researching one's own family history in the Holocaust.' (closed seminar).  

14 June 23.  Natalie Zemon Davis (Professor Emerita, University of Toronto and Princeton University) will discuss her scholarship and latest book, Listening to the Languages of the People. 4pm, Samuel Alexander Bldg Room, A7.  

18 May 23. History research seminar.  Prof. Anne Knowles, the Col. James C. McBride Distinguished Professor of History at the University of Maine, will present "How Can We Map the Holocaust." 4.15pm Zoom event.

26 April 23.  Jewish & French Studies Seminar.  Julia Elsky (Loyola University, Chicago) will discuss her book, Writing Occupation: Jewish Émigré Voices and Wartime France (2020), paying particular attention to Benjamin Fondane's rewriting of his poetry during the war. 4pm Zoom webinar. 

24 April 23. Italian Studies seminar. Robert Gordon (Cambridge). Book Launch: Modern Luck: Narratives of Fortune in the Long Twentieth Century (UCL, 2023). Among other things this book considers the survival narrative of Primo Levi. 5pm in Samuel Alexander Building A7.
