Artist's Corner: Journal Entry 5 by artist Helena Tomlin

This is the fifth blogpost by artist Helena Tomlin. You can read her previous entries here.
In this entry Helena shares some images depicting details of both objects that we consulted and discussed together. The artefacts are an Esther Scroll, Hebrew MS 22, and a ketubbah, a Jewish marriage contract, Gaster Hebrew MS 2009, held at the John Rylands University Library, Manchester.
The encounter with the ketubah and Esther scroll has led me to look at my own collection of family photos which are very precious. They have no specific history to them (they were sent by women from all over Europe). Something in the two objects from the 50 Objects collection has triggered my desire to revisit their images. I have explained more in my sketchbook journal entry. The last photograph is a piece of work I made with a photocopy, and polyfilla. It is called 'Ida's brooch'.
